Nokia
Asha 501 smartphone, which was unveiled in May, has now been
made available for pre-booking and is priced at Rs 5,199. The Nokia Asha 501 is
expected to start shipping from July. The Nokia Asha 501 comes with an all new
Asha operating platform that brings new feature called Fastlane which allows
users to access applications you use the most, the latest images you've
captured or your social network updates with a simple swipe. Along with that applications
can be accessed as usual as the older devices.
The Nokia Asha Software Platform 1.0 in this phone has been designed with
the swipe gesture to navigate through the menu on the home screen and other
functions. The Asha 501 comes with Xpress Now browser which allows data
compression and reduces data usage while accessing the Internet.
The Nokia Asha 501 has a 3 inch display with 320 x 240 pixels resolution
with capacitive touch and a toughened glass based scratch resistant screen. The
Asha 501 comes with EDGE cellular data connectivity along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
for wire free connectivity as well. There's also a 3 megapixel camera at the
back and it also allows users to record videos at 15 frames per second.
Nokia has preinstalled Facebook, Twitter, instant messaging and Weather
Channel apps, together with premium games from Gameloft, such as Big Little
City and Real Football 2013. Along with that the Nokia Asha 501 users will be
able to access Facebook on it for free. Nokia also claims that Asha 501 has an
incredible battery life of 48 days in standby and 17 hours of talk time.
