Samsung announces projector smartphone - Galaxy Beam

Samsung has announced an Android Smartphone with an inbuilt projector. The Smartphone, called the Samsung Galaxy Beam, lets users spontaneously share photos, videos or other digital media with family or friends by beaming content stored on the device directly onto walls, ceilings or improvised flat surfaces.


The projector Smartphone utilizes a 15 Lumen projector which displays bright visuals that can be seen in low light outdoor environments as well. The device will be showcased during the Mobile World Congress, currently under way in Barcelona (Spain), where the company will announce its availability and pricing details for international customers as well.


The Galaxy Beam features a dual core 1 GHz Processor coupled with a whopping 6 GB RAM which will ensure performance in applications, multitasking and flawless projector performance. It features a 4 inch capacitive touch screen with a 480 x 800 pixel native resolution.

 
The phone features 3G connectivity for faster data transfers. The Smartphone is powered with the slightly outdated Gingerbread 2.3.4 operating system that is expected to be upgraded to Android Ice Cream Sandwich soon. The Beam also features a 5 megapixel rear camera capable of video recording in HD 720p resolution besides the 1.3 megapixel camera for video conferencing and video calling. Along with that the Galaxy beam also features 8 GB of onboard memory which can be expanded to up to 32 GB with the additional Micro SD card slot provided on the device.

Nokia's first 4G phone - Lumia 900

Nokia has unveiled its new flagship Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone, Lumia 900, at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The new Nokia Lumia 900 is an improvement over the existing Lumia 800 in several areas.

Lumia 900 is the first LTE network supporting Windows Phone device from Nokia and will be available exclusively through AT&T. Lumia 900 comes in cyan, white and black colours. The smartphone sports a 4.3 inch ClearBlack Amoled display with WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution. Under the hood, it houses a single core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8055+MDM9200 mobile chipset coupled with 512 MB RAM and 16 GB on-board storage. At the rear lies an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture. This camera can easily record 720p HD video at 30 frames per second. There's also a secondary camera in the front for video chat.

Lumia 900 comes with the same polycarbonate unibody chassis with non-removable battery. Thankfully, the company has packed an 1830 mAh battery, which will hopefully make the phone last longer. Nokia has added a bunch of applications developed in-house such as Nokia Maps and the new Nokia Reading application that offers support for reading ebooks. Nokia Lumia 900 is expected to be made available worldwide in the second quarter of this year for 480 Euros (Rs 31, 675 approximately).

Huawei announces its fastest phone the new Ascend D1 Quad phone

Huawei has announced its fastest smartphone ever at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) show in Barcelona, Spain. Named Ascend D Quad, the smartphone will come with a quad core processor and Android 4.0 operating system, along with a host of eye-popping features. Ascend D Quad features a 4.5 inch 720p high definition touchscreen display with 330 ppi (pixels per inch) resolution. It also features a 16 core GPS (for location) that offers twice the performance of normal GPS, according to Huawei.

The phone has an 8 megapixel BSI (backside illumination) rear camera with 1080p full HD video capture, and it has a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling. The phone will come with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory. Ascend D Quad will also get an 1800 mAh battery, but with a quad core processor. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts on a single charge. Notably, the phone does have Huawei's proprietary power management system, which claims to save 30 per cent power. 

The Ascend D Quad has Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and Audience earSmart voice technology. Besides, it provides 3G with 21 Mbps download speed and 5.76 Mbps upload speed, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0. Apart from Ascend D Quad, Huawei has also announced Ascend D Quad XL and Ascend D1 smartphones. The Ascend D Quad XL comes with a 2500 mAh battery which lasts two to three days of normal usage. The Ascend D1 runs on a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU and has a 1670 mAh battery. While Ascend D1 will be available from April 2012, other phones will arrive across the world a few months later.

Intex brings feature rich phone new Intex Sense comes for Rs 3,690

Indian mobile phone manufacturer Intex has launched a new touch screen phone loaded with many interesting applications. The new Intex Sense comes with a 3.2 inch touch screen display with the new Intex Sense interface. Intex Application Store - WStore is preloaded in the phone alongwith 41 international and popular games (Doodle Jump, Angry Birds, Gears of War, Need for Speed, Gogo Box, Guns & Glory etc).

While there is excitement and engagement for gaming freaks, the phone is also a good option for avid book readers as it has some famous books stored in it, ranging from classics to fiction, and from thriller to general science, etc. Additionally, the user can save up to 500 books in the phone's secondary storage. It has a reasonably large inbuilt memory of 79 MB. A 4 GB microSD card is free with this phone, and will help you download more apps and save data.

Intex Sense is feature rich with miscellaneous and mainstream features like audio equalizer, sound recorder etc. making it a very effective sound data management device. The torch light with dual LED being offered in the phone will help rural customers too. It has a dual camera; the back camera is of 3 megapixels; while the front camera is of 1.3 megapixels. Social network access is made easier with direct links to major sites like Facebook and Twitter. Language support is in English and Hindi. 

Other features include a motion sensor, dynamic wallpaper, messengers, king movie and sketch notes etc. You can enjoy talk time of 4.5 hours and standby time of 380 hours, according to the company. Attractively priced at Rs 3,690, the phone is available in retail stores in black and white colors.

Lava International and Intel have partnered to launch Xolo X900 Smartphone

Lava International and Intel have partnered to launch Xolo X900 Smartphone in India by the second quarter. Xolo X900 Smartphone has a 4.03 inch display, a single core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 mobile chip and an 8 megapixel camera. Lava Xolo X900 will be the first Smartphone with Intel Atom Z2460 mobile processor to be launched in India. Featuring a 4.03 inch touch screen display, it will also feature near field communication capabilities along with micro-HDMI to output high quality videos.

Lava International will be the first Smartphone maker to bring an Intel Atom chipset (Medfield) housed Xolo X900 mobile in India. The Xolo X900 will have a single core 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2460 mobile processor with Intel Hyper-Threading technology. This processor packs an array of technologies developed by Intel to boost the mobile for faster performance with minimal possible compromise on battery life. An Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator supports all modern day 3D graphics and also supports high quality video playback.

Xolo X900 supports networks with Intel's XMM 6260 platform, and also features an NFC chip. With the micro HDMI port one can enjoy full HD video output. At the rear lies an 8 megapixel camera which ideally should be able to record 1080p HD video. This camera also features a burst mode which will allow users to capture ten pictures within a second at 8 megapixel quality. There's also a front facing camera for video call or video chat. This smartphone of course has Android, but from the images it appears that the device might have Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the anvil. The device is expected to arrive early in the second quarter of this year (probably between April and June) in India. Its price has not been revealed.
